There was a very fair gathering for Newton King, Ltd.’s sale at the Dudley Road yards on Wednesday, in most favorable weather. There was a good yarding of sheep, the market for them being firm, and they soldat improved prices. F.m. ewes, 12s to 13s 7d; two-tooth wethers, 17s: fat and forward wethers, mixed ages, 20s 6d ; shorn lambs, 9s (id: woolly lambs, 12s 7d. The number of cattle offered was moderate, but the tone of the sale showed more confidence than has obtained lately. Jersey grade weaner heifers made 555; good quality weaner Friesian heifers, 37s 6d to 475; three-year bullocks (plain), £2 19s; 2%-year to 3-year fat and forward, £5; empty heifers, £3; store cows, from 20s to 37s 6d; 20-month Shorthorn heifers, in calf, £3 18s.
