DISTRICT NEWS.
LOWGARTH. (From Ocr Own Correspondent.) Mr. A. J. Glasson, field instructor, paid a visit to the Finnerty School for the purpose of inspecting the mangold and carrot plots in connection with the Girls' and Boys’ Agricultural Club. After addressing the children on the importance of the different phases of the work, and the necessity for keeping in mind the different propositions of seed and manures, Mr. Glasson, accompanied by Mr. H. Thrush (supervisor), Miss *Rowntree (head teacher), and the pupils competing, then made an inspection of the different plots. Most of the plots visited showed a lack of cultivation, but this being the school’s initial attempt accounts somewhat for this. With this year’s experience, next year should prove very successful. The committee are grateful to Messrs. J. Hodge and M. Ewans for lending their motor cars for the purpose of the visit.
