BRITISH POLITICS.

LABOR PARTY’S CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. London, April 18. The Independent Labor Conference passed a resolution opposing alliance with the Wee Frees or any other party inside of Parliament. Mr. C. P. Trevelyan declared that the Wee Free statesmen were equally responsible with the Coalitionists for the present state of Europe. Lord Grey’s return to politics made Labor opposition doubly necessary. The Labor hope rested upon an alliance with the Labor and Socialist parties of Europe. The conference rejected a motion favoring affiliation with the Communists. One speaker quoted a prominent Communist’s declaration that the Communists wanted to take Labor by the hand in order later to get it by the throat. A resolution favoring prohibition was rejected by 174 votes to 132.
