I Cheese: Quiet. Best New Zealand white 80s to 86s, coloured 88s to 925; Australian temporarily cleared. WOOL DISPOSSAL. Melbourne, April 15. Bawra has issued a statement showing that the March disposals of carry-over wool at the Australian sales were 55,000 bales, whereof 35,000 were merino. Thirty thousand bales of New Zealand wool had also been sold. London, April 13. Bradford wool market quiet. Topmakers are advancing quotations for all quantities from fifties upwards. LONDON MARKETS. London, April 12. Cargoes are steadily held id view of the better Continental demand ai£d the improved freights position. The Cymiric Queen cargo brought 55s l%d, Cromanza 55s 6d. Tallow : One thousand two hundred and for-ty-four casks offered, 204 sold. Mutton, fine 425, medium 38s; beef, fine 41s, medium 375. The N.Z. apples by the Westmoreland are of excellent quality and in good condition. There is a strong demand, as no others will be available until after the holidays. Cox’s 24s to 30s, Ribston’s 20s, Dunn’s 18s to 20s, Worcesters 17s 6d, Afriston’s 18s 6d, Duke of Clarence 18s to 19s. Imports decreased £5,862,230 and exports £2,228,168 during March. Re-exports increased £1,265,607. A meeting of importers of Queensland beef 1 unanimously agreed to cable their Queensland houses to reduce immediately freezing charges by one-eighth of a penny per lb, the reduction to be made unconditionally, to facilitate reductions in freights and other Australian costs. Wheat: In better demand for the Continent. This, combined with the reduction of the bank rate, has firmed the cargo market. Australian is 3d to 6d dearer. The King Edward cargo sold at 55s 3s per quarter. The spot trade is very slow. Australian ex quay Is quoted at 60s 3d. Flour, 45s ex store. Barley is meeting with more inquiry and prices are firm. Oats: Quiet. Peas: Easier; Tasmanian blues 440 s to 500 s per quarter. Beans: Steady. Wheat freights are very quiet. A steamer has been fixed for April loading at Sydney at 47s 64, one port of discharge, and* 48s 9d for two ports. Sugar: Unchanged. London, April 14. Mutton: Canterbury, medium light 8 l-Bd. Frozen beef: Old N.Z. hinds 3d%. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. BETTER SALE FOR STORE SHEEP. Christchurch, April 10. There were big yardings in all classes of stock in Addington Fat lambs and mutton sold at last week’s rates. Store sheep were a shade firmer, except at the closing stages, when the competition weakened. Store Sheep.—A big yarding, about 170 per cent, being ewes. Wethers met a firmer sale, and ewes all round were Is per head better than last week. Two-tooth halfbred ewes brought to 27s tld, and rape lambs to 19s 4d. A good clearance was made. Forward rape lambs realised 15s Gd to 19s 4d, good 13s 3d to 15s 3d. medium Ils to 13s, small 8s 6d to 10s 9d. cull lambs 6s to Bs. Good two-tooth lialfbred ewes 25s to 27s Gd, ordinary 18s 6d to 23s 6d, inferior 13s to 16s 9d. Good crossbred 4-tooth ewes 23s Bd, good 6 and 8-tooth halfbred ewes 255, ordinary 4,6, and 8-tootb ewes 17s Gd to 20s, inferior 13s 6d to 15s 6d, -full and fail-ing-mouthed ewes 12s to 18s Gd, rape ewes 7s 6d to 12s 6d. culls -3s Gd to 6s Gd. Forward 4 and 6-tooth half bred wethers 19s to 20s 4d, ordinary 15s to 17s Ud. Forward 2-tooth wethers 19s 9d, ordinary 14s to 16s Id. Fat Lambs.—TlG6 were penned, nearly 1000 more than last week. The market opened a shade easier, but speedily improved, and values on the average were quite up to last week, B£d to B%d per lb. Extra prime lambs made 27s to 33s 9d, prime 23s 9d to 26s 9d, medium 20s 9d to 23s 6d, light and unfinished 17s Gd to 20s 6d. Fat Sheep.—A heavy yarding and a better proportion of wethers. Values were about the same as last week, heavy ewes being a shade better. Freezers operated freely for all light mutton. Extra prime wethers made 27s to 245, prime 22s 6d to 265, medium 19s Gd to 22s 3d, inferior 16s lOd to 19s 3d. Extra prime ewes 22s to 26s 3d, prime 18s 6d to 21s Gd, medium 14s Gd to 18s 3d, light 10s lOd to 14s 3d.
Fat Cattle.— A. big yarding of. 368, mostly medium to inferior. A dragging sale throughout. Primest beef was worth to 27e 6d per 1001 b, secondary 22a 6d, inferior 20s and under. Extra prime steers realised £l2 10s to £l3 17s Gd, prime £8 12s Vd to £l2 ss, medium £0 15s to £8 10s, inferior £4 10s to £6 12s Gd. Extra prime heifers made £8 to £ll, prime £5 10s to £7 15s, ordinary £4 2s 6d to £5 7s 6d, prime cows £5 to £0 10s, ordinary £2 5s to £4 15s. Vealers.—Anything fit for butchers sold well. Runners £6 ss, good vealers £3 15s to £4 12s, medium £1 15s to £2 ss, small calves 4s upwards. Small Cattle.—Good young heifers were in demand, otherwise the sale was slow. Two and 2|-year-old steers made £2 10s to £3> 12s 6d, yearlings £1 5s to £1 10s. Two-year-old heifers £4 15s, yearlings and, 18-month-old £2 15s to £3 ss, good cows £4, medium £1 10s to £2, inferior 10s to 20s. Dairy Cattle.—A large yarding and good demand, last week’s values being maintained, second and third calvers, springing £8 to £l5, springing heifers £8 to £l3, cows in milk £3 to £9. Fat Pigs.—The demand was keen, but fell away, towards the end. Choppers £3 to £5, light baconers £3 10s to £4 ss, heavy £4 10s to £5 5s (average price per lb. 6d to 6-Jd), light porkers 50s to 555, heavy 60s to 65s (average price per lb, fid to fijd). Store Pigs. —Prices all round were better than last week. Best stores 52s to 60s, medium 32s to 48s, small 18s to 21s, weaners 8s to 12s. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE. EASIER PRICES RULE. Dunedin, April 12. There were small yardings of sheep, lambs, and pigs at Burnside to-day, and medium yardings of cattle. Fat Cattle. —A fair yarding of 171 head of medium quality. The demarxl at the commencement of the sale wax good, but as the sale progressed prices became easier and prices were lower to the extent of 10s to 15s per 1001 b,
medium ox 21s to 235, cow 19s to 20s. Best bullocks realised £lO 10s to £ll 10s, medium £8 10s to £9, inferior £5 10s to £6 10s. Best cows and heifers were sold at £B, medium £5 10s to £6 10s, inferior £4 10s to £5 10s. Fat Sheep.—A small yarding of 1011 head, the majority being of poor quality. Last week’s prices were not maintained. Prime wether mutton was worth 4i/ 4 d to -4d per lb, ewe 3|d to 3£d. Best wethers brought 27s to 295, and up to 32s for extra good, medium 22s to 245, inferior 18s to 20s. Best ewes realised 2Os to 21s, up to 2Js for extra good, medium 16s to 17s, and inferior 14s to 15s. Lambs.—A small yarding (590) of medium quality, mostly unfinished. Th® good quality lambs were cbxnpeted for by freezing buyers at full fates, while unfinished sorts were keenly sought ,by graziers. Prime lamb was worth from 7%d to 8d per lb. Best lambs brought from 24s to 265, and extra to 30s, medium 20s to 21s, and inferior 16s to 17 s. ’ ’ Store Cattle.—A medium yarding, mostly of cows. Bullocks were slightly firmer, while cows Arid young cattle sold at about last week’s rates. Dairy cows just at profit were in good demand, but back-conditioned and late calvers were not keenly-sought after. Pigs. —A small yarding ( : 4>), but quite sufficient for requirem. .<v,s. Prices for -fats were easier by about 7s Gd per head, and stores were back about (ss. Baconers were worth about 7|d per lb, and porkers up to BVad per lb.
