At Tuesday’s meeting of the Egmont County Council Cr. Tosland referred to the fact that the cpuncil was paying its casual labor 14e per day. It was a hard thing to do, he said, but the cost of living would never come down till wages were reduced, and he moved that the casual hands be paid 12s per day, a 'figure be understood private employers were offering, and were receiving numerous applications.
