COOK v. BECKETT. COOK DISQUALIFIED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, April 10. In the Cook v. Beckett fight Cook was disqualified in the sixth round. In the first round Cook was repeatedly, guilty of holding, and the referee stopped the 7 fight and warned him. In the second round Cook twice landed a left to the face, but in consequence of Beckett getting a right to the point Cook had to close for safety. In the third round Beckett warily escaped Cook’s left. Both: were on the ropes. In the fourth round Beckett landed a left hook to the chin, and Cook got a right home, and then came a further warning for holding. At the commencement of the fifth round the referee warned both. Beckett landed a right and a left, but. received a severe uppercut. Cook was again warned for holding. Beckett had Cook groggy lu the sixth round. Cook continued holding, and the referee disqualified him. In the sixth round Beckett landed four hard rights to the jaw. Cook was groggy, but hung on like a limpet. A POOR EXHIBITION. Received April 11, 5.5 p.m. London, April 10. Cook said: “I was beaten by a better man.” Beckett said: ‘‘Cook is a good, clean fighter, hut guilty of holding. I was slow owing to the result of influenza. I have "a great ambition to meet Carpentier." The Daily Chronicle says it was a terribly poor exhibition. A good man would have beaten either of the contestants. Neither had any initiative, and what one did depended on what the other did. The contest would not do credit to a suburban show.
