(From Our Own Correspondent) Friday. The funeral of the Lite Thomas Baker, victim of the fatal accident of Wednesday last, which took place here this afternoon, the Rev. R. J. Stanton officiating, was numerously attended by relations, friends and old Inglewood residents who had known deceased for a number of years, as well as a strong contingent from the hydro-electric works, who came the nine miles or so from their work to pay a last tribute of respect to him who had been working with them to the day of his death. Chief amongst the mourners were deceased’s little son and his brother, Mr. Alex Baker, now of New Plymouth, but formerly, and for many years, a very well known member of the Ingle woe j community. There was a good yarding of stock for Newton King. Ltd.’s sale on Wednesday and a large attendance. The sale went with more spirit than has lately prevailed at the yards, and nearly all lots submitted found buyers. The improved demand was chiefly- noticeable in the sheep and weaner lines. Heifer calves, ordinary, made from 22s to 30s, those showing Friesian blood from 35s to 40s, and for those with traces of Jersey breeding up to £3 5s was given*, steer calves sold at 15s, store cows made from 16s to 275, in-calf heifers (small and inferior condition) made £3; ewes of mixed ages made 14s to 16X, and hoggets of mixed sexes 6s Bd.
