AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
THE GENERAL COMMITTEE. The general committee of the Taranaki Agricultural Society met yesterday, Mr. W. B. Grant (president), occupying the chair. The Stratford A. and P. Association notified that they had decided to call a conference of the three Taranaki A. and P. societies, to be held at Stratford on May 10, for the purpose of discussing remits for the Council of Agriculture in July and dealing with matters of mutual interest. —It was decided to fall in with this suggestion. The minutes of the executive committee dealing • with various matters were confirmed as follows: It was decided that the matter of securing the services of a band, or an orchestra for the winter show be left to the president and secretary to report upon. The president and Messrs. Sampson and Browne were appointed a subcommittee to appoint the necessary judges for the winter show, and a subcommittee was also elected to select stewards. The selection of members’ badges was left to the secretary. A sufb-committee was appointed to ascertain from the Borough Council particulars regarding the installation; of electric light at the winter show buildings. It was resolved to write to Mr. Frank Ran ford expressing the thanks of the society for his report in connection with the cow-judging competition at the recent autumn show. A vote of thanks was passed to the Taranaki Farmers’ Meat Co., and Messrs. T. Hook and J. McKenzie for assistance given jn connection with the autumn show; also to Mrs. Holmes, of ißoll Block, for a donation of _£L
