Full details of the statistics dealing with the health of the people of the Dominion are not available, but the bare totals obtained to-day show that the death rate is considerably lower than in previous periods. The birth rate also is exceptionally low, the second lowest on record, the previous year’s figures being given in parentheses: — Births 28,5'69 (29,921) Deaths 10,684 (12,109) Marriages 10,635 (12,175) The following figures show the general rate per thousand of population, the previous year’s figures being in parentheses: —Birthrate, 23.34 (25.09); deathrate 8.72 (10.15); marriages, 8.69 (10.21).
