‘Three “push” bicycles, in various stages of disrepair, and a brief bag containing a pair of light working trousers, were offered at auction at New Plymouth yesterday on behalf of the inspector *of police. The articles had been found by the .police, and as they had remained unclaimed for the requisite period of two years, they were accordingly sold. The bicycles realised the sums of £2 17s 6d, £2 5s and £ n 12s 6d respectively, whilst the brief bag and contents were bought for 10s. This is the first, sale of unclaimed property held by the police since Taranaki was formed into a separate police district. Tn connection with the money voted by the Peace Oompiittee to the Victoria League for the care and upkeep of the soldiers’ plot in the local cemetery, the executive at a meeting on Wednesday appointed the president (Mrs Burgess) and Mr. IV.
