RUAPEHU’S CRATER.

LAKE SHOWING ACTIVITY. HUGE CAVE FORMING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. A party, which included Mr. Salt, president of the Ruapehu Ski Club, returned to Wanganui to-day from a visit to the mountain. They report that the lake in the crater is showing considerable activity, being streaked with sulphur stain, and spiral steam jets are rising from the surface of the water. A most remarkable development is the formation of a huge cave in the southern ice wall, into which the lake appeared to be overflowing. The cave was first noted some months ago, but was then of small size.
