A dramatic episode during the hearing of the Armstrong case (alleged arsenic poisoning) was the appearance of a “mystery” woman whose name was concealed, and the Judge said that no photos must be taken. In giving evidence, she said that prisoner asked her on May 15 to marry him, but they were never engaged. She identified a packet of her letters found oh prisoner when arrested. The defence announced that Armstrong would give evidence.
