LIFE-SAVING.

NORTH TARANAKI SOCIETY. AWARD OF CERTIFICATES. A meeting of the North Taranaki Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving Society was held at New Plymouth last night, Mr. A. R. Standish presiding. There were also present: Messrs. F. J. Eggleton, E. Coleman, E. Stagpoole, R. L. Mcllroy, R. Howell, I. Renaud, K. Kirk, J. Bennett and W. Brown. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs. Kirk and Renaud was set up to make arrangements with the New Plymouth Amateur Swimming Club -for the presentation of the Xabor Shield to the Old Boys’ team. It is expected to make this presentation at a function to be held on Wednesday evening nex<t, when it is hoped that Miss Annette Kellerman, who will then be in New Plymouth, will be able to perform the ceremony. A resolution was passed, to the effect that entries for the society’s certificates or medallions must be made through the secretary, when arrangements for the examinations will be made. Messrs. Standish, Coleman and Bennett were, appointed an executive to arrange for examiners. The East End and Old Boys’ Clubs were desirous of competing for surf medallions. The head centre, Christchurch, notified that Messrs. Christiansen and Mathieson had been appointed examiners for these awards, and the society decided that the competitions be held at the Strandon beach at 10 o’clock on Good Friday morning.

Owing to the Government grant not being forthcoming this year, a subcommittee was set up to canvass for subscriptions *for the society. LIST OF AWARDS.
