Mitchell and McWhae, AgentsGeneral, had a long conference at the House of Commons to-night with the Empire Development Committee, representing over 200 members of the House of Commons- From thirty to forty were present. Mr % A. Bigland, M.P., presided. He said the*problem was how to promote migration overseas, land settlement and empire development generally in such a way as to enlist British financial co-operation while relieving the British taxation. Mr. Mitchell replied: “By co-operating with us, by giving us men and money to settle lands, enabling us to produce foodstuffs aud raw material essential to British consumers and manufacturers, who thereby will be enabled to outdistance their competitors in quality and cost of production. The solution of the whole problem was in the hands of the Imperial authorities, who were in a position to direct the outflow of men and money to the Dominions.”—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn-
