FATALITY AT INGLEWOOD.
HORSEMAN KILLED INSTANTLY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) April 5Very shortly after three o’clock this afternoon a shocking tragedy happened on the main street running east and west through Inglewood, whereby Mr. Thomas Baker, a well-known resident of the town, 59 years of age, lost his life. It appears that he was riding along Rata Street when his horse got beyond his control, and his head was brought with such force against the telegraph post, near Cutfield Street corner, that he was killed outright. Such are the bald facts at present obtainable, which will, no doubt, be further enlarged at the coroner’s enquiry to be held here tomorrow (Thursday).
