NEWTON KING, LTD. REPORT. At Douglas on March 27 a keen demand for sheep resulted in improved rates for this class, the whole offering being sold. Cattle sold at late levels. Lambs 6s 9d, 7s Id, 2tooth wethers 12s 3d, forward do. 16s fid, fat ewes 13s 9d, 14s Cd, IGs lid, full mouth ewes 6s, 8s 4d, in-calf heifers £5, wearier heifers 20s, 255, Jersey do. £3 10s, 2%-year-old steers 495, store cows 10s, 255, 325. At Omatu on tbe same day we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr. Alf. George. Draught mares £l6 10s, £35 10s, springing heifprs £5, empty heifers £2 19s, 2-year-old steers 365, dairy cows up to £5 10s.
At Stony River on March 28 quotations were as follows: Store pigs 18s, 20s, 235, Blips Us, sow _in farrow £2 10s, weaner steers 9s, heifers r.w.b. £3 8s 6d, fat. steers £4 9s, store cows 10s, 19s, 335, fat do. £2 17s, bulls 255, £2 2s, springing Jersey heifer £B.
At Kohuratahi on the 29th ult., in conjunction with the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., we had a full yarding of sheep, and report a very spirited sale. There was an all round improvement in prices. A few pens of cattle came forv-rd, mostly steers, and these realised satisfactory values. Lambs Bs, 9s 4d, 10s Bd, cull do. 3s Id, 4s, 2-tooth ewes 12s 3d, 13s Cd,. 4 and 6-tooth do. 14s Id, f.f.m. do. 10s lOd, 13s, 14s Id, failing mouth do. 6s sd, 8s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 16s 2d, small do. 13s, *3s lOd, 18-months steers £2, 2% and 3-year do, £2 12s, £3 Is, £3 ss, weaner heifers 14s, 20s.
At Okau on March 30 the advertised entry of sheep came forward, also a full yarding of cattle. Hot competition was created for tbe former, prices rising accordingly, and the ful’ issue was cleared. The bulk of tbe cattle also sold, prices remaining on a par with late levels. Two-tooth wethers 16s sd, 4 and 6-tooth do. 17s, 10s 6d, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 14s lOd, 16s, full <mouth do. Ils Bd, fat lambs 14s 6d, ordinary do. 8s 7d, 9s 4d, cull do. 4s, 6s 4d, weaner heifers 255, 30s, Jersey do. £2 2s, £2 Bs, empty heifers £2 3s 6d, £2 ss, in-calf heifers £4 3s, springing do. £5 ss, 18-month steers 275, £1 15s 6d, 2% -year do. £2 la, £2 14s, fat and forward bullocks £4 Ils, store cows £1 15s, fat do. £3, £3 2s 6d, pedigree Jersey bulls 0 and lOgns.
At Waiwakaiho on the same day a small yarding of sheep and cattle was completely cleared at prices on a par with those ruling elsewhere. Four and 6-tooth ewes in lamb 14s 7d, full mouth ewes 10s 3d, inferior weaner heifers Ils, 13s, lfis, heifers r.w.b. £2 10s, £3, springing heifers £6 ss, springing cow £l2.
At the same sale we disposed of a dairy herd on account of Mr. Toinatt, the best cows realising £6 7s 6d, £7 10s, £lO.
