STRATFORD WINS BANNER The play off by the winners in the banner competition in the four divisions under the Taranaki Centre took place at Stratford on Saturday in ideal weather conditions and on a perfect green. Naturally Stratford had a slight advantage in playing on their own green, though in the final with New Plymouth A they proved decidedly the better team. The contest -for the trophy lay between Stratford, Hawera, Manaia and New Plymouth A. The uraw m the morning resulted in Hawera playing New Plymouth and Stratford playing Manaia, the winners being Stratford and New Plymouth, who met in the final in the afternoon, when Stratford,. for the first time, won the banner with a creditable margin, the New Plymouth players making a poor display. Manaia and Hawera also played in the afternoon, the former winning comfortably by 34 points. Details are as ‘follow: MORNING PLAY. NEW PLYMOUTH A v. HAWERA. RAHOTU v. OPUNAKE. At Rahotu on Wednesday a two-nnk match was played with Opunake. The latter scored 77 and Rahotu 21. The Rahotu ladies fared bettef, defeating a rink from Opunake by 25 to 20.
