FRENCH TEAM’S TOUR. ANOTHER EFFORT MADE, TO INDUCE A VISIT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Owing to the public disappointment at the French Rugby Union's decision to cancel the projected New Zealand tour, the New Zealand Rugby Union is anxious to secure a reconsideration by the French, and has already discussed and agreed to a modified progrartime that would enable the Frenchmen to return home in time for their own championships. The curtailed programme would include fourteen matches, of which tliree would be tests. The management committee cabled to the French Rugby Union, stating that grave disappointment prevails here at Its decision, and asking if the union will reconsider a modification of the tour enabling the team to return in time for their championships. An urgent reply was requested, so that, if favorable, tha arrangements can proceed. THE SOCCER GAME. AUSTRALIAN TEAM’S TOUR. y NEW PLYMOUTH INCLUDED. Wellington, Last Night. The Itinerary of the Australian soccer team, which is to play throughout New Zealand, was received from Thos. Cook and Sons at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association last night. Subject to any slight alteration, the itinerary is as follows: May 18, ledve Sydney per Manuka; May 24, play at Auckland; May 27, Wellington; May 31, Nelson; June 3, Christchurch ; June 7, Greymouth; June 10, Dunedin; June 17, first test at Dunedin; June 21, Hamilton; June 24, second test at Auckland ; June 28, New Plymouth; July 1, Wanganui ; July 5, third test at Wellington; July 13, sail for Sydney.
