DOMINION-WIDE PROHIBITION

A CANADIAN REQUEST. THE PREMIER’S VIEWS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received March 29, 8.30 p.m. Ottawa, March 28. Premier King, replying to a delegation requesting that a measure be passed giving effect to Dominion-wide prohibition, said that for his own part he did not believe in prohibition in anything. He preferred temperance in everything. He promised that the request for such a measure, to supplant the present provincial liquor laws, would receive the careful attention of Cabinet, but it could not be introduced during the present session, because Ministers scarcely had time to familiarise themselves with their respective problems. He added that in considering any measure other than those relating to the manufacture, importation and exportation of liquors, a careful study would be made of the United States’ experiment.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
