INFLUENZA IN ’FRISCO.
A SERIOUS OUTBREAK. NEED FOR CLEAN DOMINION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, March 29. Latest reports from San Francisco state that during the week ended February 18 there were 1034 cases of influenza and 17 deaths. The outbreak in California seems to be mild. The Minister of Healux stated yesterday that the effort to clean up the cities of the Dominion ought not to be relaxed during the next few 1 months. There had been a death from septicaeinic plague in Sydney last week, and medical men stated that the best safeguard against influenza was vigorous health in the individual, and this health must 'be based upon personal and public cleanliness. Too much care could not be exercised at the ports, especially with regard to shipping from Australia and America.
