A meeting of the Kaponga Town Board was held on Thursday, 23rd inst. Present: Commissioners Cook (chair), Betts, Allen, Law. J. Guy, Shepperd, and the engineer (Mr. Moss). It was decided to erect a notice board in the town notifying the proper place in which to park cars. The foreman’s report drew attention to the unfavorable weather for metalling. the work done at Kuri Street, the state of the crossing at the new Convent, school, and to certain overhanging hedges that required attention. The report stated further that the cemetery was in fair order. \ The engineer's report stated that the chairman and engineer had had consultation with Mr. Marx and Duthie Road settlers with regard to electricity extention, and a satisfactory arrangement had been arrived at. This will add some twenty consumers to the local list with an extension of line reaching 24 miles.
In answer to a question as to whether there was a danger of over-loading the plant, Mr. Moss pointed out that on the opening of the auxiliary supply there would be 120 horse-power available during the driest season. At present they were using only 30 h.p. He would have no hesitation in linking up at once six new dairy companies, together with 100 farmers, if such were available. He based his calculations on what all must concede to be a record dry season with a corresponding diminution of water power. A list of six names of car drivers charged with exceeding the speed limit on St. Patrick’s Day was submitted, and it was decided to take action.
