SWIMMING.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the New Plymouth Swimming Club was held last evening. It was decided to hold the carnival, postponed from last Saturday, on Saturday, next, April 1, at 2.30 p.m. A splendid programme was drawn up, details of which are advertised. The following trophies will be competed for: The Dalgleish breaststroke cup and gold medal; the Gray Cup (relay race); club championship (100 yards), J. Bennett gold medal, final event points prize (Dalgleish gold medal). The following primary school trophies will be competed for: The McHardy Shield (boys’ relay race); the Weston Shield (girls’ relay race) ; gold medals for learners (boys and girls), presented by the Wanganui Swimming Centre. A number of other events, for which good trophies have been allotted, will also be held. Entries for all events will close on Thursday; 30th instant, at 8 p.m. Given fine weather, a most interesting afternoon’s sport is assured.
