INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Thursday the Mayor (Mr. J. Sutherland) and all the members of the Inglewood Borough Council, together with Mr. G. Young (ex-Mayor), Mr. Olson (town clerk), and Mr. Winter (electrical engineer), as well as other visitors from Inglewood, visited the New Plymouth hydro-electric works. Though the weather was by no means favorable, the visitors enjoyed a very instructive time. They were met by Mr. Kibby (deputy Mayor of New Plymouth), Messrs. ringer (general manager), Bartley (electrical engineer), Lee and Owen (engi.neers), and Dingle (councillor), in ’ whose company they were conducted over the works, and given a detailed account of the scheme by Mr. Bartley, which proved most instructive, and was very much appreciated by the visitors. During the afternoon the visitors were entertained at afternoon tea, after, which they took the tram to the power ! house, where everyting was in full | swing in connection with the present scheme. I After a full inspection of the works a had been completed, Mr. J. Sutherland (Inglewood’s Mayor) thanked the rep- ! resentatives of New Plymouth for “the ( enjoyable and instructive afternoon proi vided, at the same time congratulating them on the good results so far obtaini ed, as well as on their enterprise to- : wards future extension. Mr. Kibby, ; while replying in very cordial terms of 1 welcome to the Inglewood visitors, apol ogised for the unavoidable absence of the Mayor of New Plymouth (Mr. F. E. Wilson), and expressed the hope that Inglewood and New Plymouth would continue to work together in harmony in the years to come, after which the Inglewood contingent returned home content and congratulatory that the time had been well spent.
