PROGRESS AT OTIRA TUNNEL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. As a result of his visit of inspection of the Otira Tunnel the Hon. J. G. Coates states that generally the work is proceeding satisfactorily. He does not anticipate, any alteration of his previous statement that the line through the tunnel will bo in operation about the end of the preseit year. TEKAPO POWER SCHEMES. Christchurch, Last Night. Regarding the proposed Tekapo power schemes, the Hon. J. G. Coates states that as soon as the power board, when established, shows that the power developed at Lake Tekapo can be supplied to consumers at a reasonable rate a license to proceed will be issued. MORE IMMIGRANTS ARRIVE. Auckland, Last Night. The steamer Dorset arrived from Liverpool to-day with 262 immigrants. They are all in good health. The immigrants include 37 domestics and 18 weavers for the Kaiapoi, Roslyn and Mosgiel mills. During the voyage a man named James Carter died and was buried at sea. Three English-bred colts reached Auckland by the Dorset yesterday, two by White Knight and one by Steadfast. The steamer had a rough passage, but the horses came through well.
