EGMONT MEETING. CONCLUDING RESULTS. £ S>. The annuel meeting of the Egmont Sheep Dog Trial Club wae concluded at Mr. W. Snowden’s farm, Inaha, yesterday. The results of the events decided are as follow: Class H.—Heading about 400 yards, bringing back, driving through one set of hurdles 9ft apart, and drive 50- yards to pen and yard. Total pointe, 60. 1. P. H. Tocker’s Jed: 10, 11, 8,3, 10, 6, 12; 60. 2. M. O’Shanneasy’s Belle: 10, 11, 8,3, 9,6, 12; 59 3. M. M. Scott’s Swift: 10, 11, 7,3, 10, 6, 11; 58. 4. R. J. Tiddy’s Gyp: 9, 10, 8,3, 9,6, 11; 56. Judge’s comments: — Jed.—Gast to right; good line; good head; good pull; steady drive and yarding very good. Belle. —Cast to right; good head; started and pulled sheep straight and steady; driving and yarding good. Swift.—Cast to right; sheep moved off good line and good head; pull; good line; steady; a bit alow getting control of sheep to hurdles; off line to hurdles; good work at yard. Gyp.—Cast to right; headed a little close; started and pulled sheep; good line and steady; good work driving and yarding; a bit slack at ya.rd. Class II A.— Heading about 400 yards, bringing back, driving through, one set of hurdles 9ft apart, and drive 50 yards to pen and yard. For novice over 20 years of age and dog. 1. W. Rogers’ Scotty: 8, 10, 6,2, 9,6, 10; total 51. 2. J. H. Foreman’s Tip: 7,8, 6,3, 10, 6,9; total 49. J. Hawken’s Lass: 8,9, 5,2, 8,6, 9; total 47. Class ’ 111., HuZtaway.—ln this class dogs will only have to huntaway the sheep to the satisfaction of the judge. Distance, about 400 yards between three lots of flags. 1. A. J. Corrigan’s Wag: 18, 9,5, 12; total 44.
2. H. Buckley’s Shep: 16, 9,6, 11; total 42. 3. M. O’Shannessy’s Black: 16, 8,4, 10; total 38. 4. A. Walker’s Boy: 13, 9,4, 9; total 35. Judge’s comments: — Wag.—Hunted through all stages of course in good line and command, and fair style in quick time. Shep. —Hunted through first flags; good line; good noise; bad turn at second flag; just got through second and third flags; good style; keen and clean in his turns. Black. —Lost time getting through flags; man afraid to let dog on to sheep; fair noise and style. Boy—Off line to third flag; good noise; dog rather careless and slovenly in his work and very slow getting through the flags. SPECIAL PRIZES. Winners of the special prizes were as follows: Tongahoe Cup, value £lO 10s, for maiden dogs scoring moat pointe in single dog events. —M. M. Scott’s Swift. Bennett and Sutton’s Cup, value £5 ss, for competitor scoring most points in Classes I. and lI.—M. M. Scott’s Swift. •Scott Bros.’ Cup, value £8 Bs, for dogs scoring most points in Class ll. A. J. Corrigan’s Wag. A. J. Corrigan’s Cup for competitor scoring most points in Class I. —H. Buckley’s Hemp. Mr. A. J. Corrigan undertook a challenge to yard a pet sheep in ten minutes with his dog Marvel, and accomplished the feat easily in the record time of Imin. 17secs. THE OHURA TRIALS. \ The Ohnra trials were a great success, competitors being present from all over the district, and the work of the winners being evenly good. Mr. M. M. Scott acted as judge and gave every satisfaction. Results were as below : Class I. —Long Head: Hansen’s Darky, 33 points, 1; Voyce’s Trimm. 32, 2; Rolf’s Fly, 29, 3; Johnston’s Speed, 28, 4; Voyce’s Roy, 27, 5. Class ll.—Huntaway: Corrigan’s Wag, 23, 1 (won on time); Voyce’s Roy, 23, 2; Voyce’s Fly. 15, 3; Waddell’s Darky, 12. 4; England’s Bob, 11, 5. ■Glass lll.—Head and Yard: Voyce’s Yf-imm, 38|, 1; 'England's Storm, 33, 2; Waddell’s Swift, 32, 3; Rolf’s Fly, 29J, 4; Vovce’s Toss, 28 J, 5. Class in.—Local: Hansen’s Darky, 34, 1 ; oldtinch’s Kitson, 30, 2; Spence’s Floss, 25, 3; Revell’s Roy, 21, 4; England’s Scotty, 20, 5.
