STRATFORD AGENCY. Advertisements and items of news for publication in the Taranaki Daily News should be left at the office of our local representatative, Mr. W. H. Humphrey, Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may also be left with him. PLUNKET DAY. The proceeds of the Plunket Street day on Saturday are announced as satisfactory. Mrs. C. D. Sole took charge of the jumble stall, and those who patronised it secured good bargains. Mrs. Masters organised a flower and sweet stall, and Mrs. Martin a cake and produce stall. Mrs. Cuthbert managed the sheep-guessing competition. The weight of the sheep was 1161bs, and Mr. Court guessed 116-Albs, and became the winner of the half-guinea prize. A large box of home-made sweets presented by Miss Cathro, and a jar by Mrs. Budge, were raffled, the winner being Mrs. Bocock. Another large box of sweets given by Mrs. Douglas was raffled, the winner being Mrs. Purcell, who kindly passed it back to be re-sold. The takings amounted to £26 4s 6d. The following donations are acknowledged: Mr. Mclnnis, £1 Is; Mrs. Cuthbert, £1 Is; Mrs. Hine, 10s; Mr. W. Cannon, 10s; Mr. Whittle, 10s; Mrs. Phillips, 10s; Mrs. Manoy, 10s; Mrs. A. R. Masters, ss; Mrs. McDonald (Pembroke Road), ss; C. Mumby, 2s 6d; Mes. Gibson, 2s 6d; Mr. Lewers, ss; Mrs. Darragh, ss; Mr. Cook, ss. THE A. AND P. CARNIVAL. If the Weather clerk is as assiduous in his duties as the officials of the Stratford A. and P. carnival have been there should be little doubt left as to the success of the gathering to-day. The programme will commence at 11 a.m., and a feast of merriment and sport is promised patrons of all shades. A taxi service will be run to the show grounds throughout the day, the fare having been fixed at Is by the taxi proprietors as a concession to the society* The horse-racing should be a great attraction, and a surprise is in store for patrons in the motor-car racing events. Everything possible has been done to ensure the comfort of the public, and the committee has good reason to anticipate an outstanding success. TOKO ANNUAL SPORTS. The Toko settlers’ annual sports picnic and dance is an event that is always keenly looked forward to, on account of the uniformly good programmes submitted, and the fact that the dancing floor in the Toko hall is regarded as the best in the district. This year’s fixture takes place on Thursday, March 30, and all arrangements are being made to maintain the usual high standard of entertainment and sport. A sale of 300 cases of fruit is advertised for 2 p.m. to-day at Lam as on’s mart. A number of good' second-hand typewriters, in first-class condition, for sale; Remington, Smith Premier, Monarch; Yost, Barlock, Royal, Remington Junior and Oliver. Prices from £7 7s to £25.
