A. AND P. SOCIETIES’ PROTESTS. THE PREMIER’S REPLY., By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. With reference to the protests made by A. and P. societies against their being called on to pay the amusement tax, the Prime Minister stated that, as he had said wjien the tax was imposed, the Government was obliged to take revenue from sources which had. hitherto escaped taxation. He hoped to be able next session to ask Parliament to amend the law so as to relieve A. and P. shows from future payments. He had replied to quite a number of societies to this effect.
