Speaking at Los Angeles, Sir Auckland Geddes denied that he ever ?aid the Four Power Treaty averted an imminent war (as cabled on 18th inst.). He made a. statement that the conference had for its object, as -far as possible, the removal of war from the world. This meant, naturally, the Pacific as well as other parts of the globe, but beyond that general statement he did not, and could not, go in his official capacity.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
