In the Davis Cup draw Britain has a bye and meets the winner of the match between Japan and Italy. Denmark has a bye, and meets the winner of the France —Canada match. Bartlett (Auckland) is unable to go to New South Wales with the New Zealand lawn tennis team, Mr. P. G. Greenwood (Christchurch) will fill the vacancy, taking the position of sixth man of the team.
