INGLEWOOD.
SCHOOL COMMITTEE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Inglewood School Committee was held on Tuesday at the school. Various matters of repairs to the buildings were left in the hands of the secretary to deal with. The sub-committee appointed for that purpose reported that th n work of making up the school playground with earth had been completed satisfactorily at a cost of £5O, the funds for payment of which had been provided by the efforts of the ladies’ committee for that purpose. Mr. A. H. Coad’s tender for building the new girls’ shelter shed was accepted, subject to the approval of the Taranaki Board of Education.
Accounts amounting to £57 12s 5d were passed for payment, and the com mittee adjourned till its final meeting, April 11. Attention was drawn to the date fixed for the annual householders’ meeting, viz., April 24.
FOOTBALL CLUE. ' There was a very good muster bn Thursday evening for the annual meeting of the Inglewood Football Club, which took place in the room at the Coffee Palace, lent by Mr. W. H. Eagar for the occasion. Mr. J. R. Sutherland presided. The report and bal-ance-sheet showed the club to be £2l 16s Id in credit, which sum includes the surplus of £l4 9s carried on from last year. On the chairman’s motion, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. An addition of eleven new members to the club was notified. The election of officers for the coming year resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. C. R. O’Carroll; president, Mr. J. Sutherland; vicepresidents, J. Archibald, F. Brown, W. H. Eagar, R. Fairweather, Dr. Farris, A. B. Gamlin, G. Gudgeon, W. Laurence, A. A. Leslie, A. Lile, W. Lite, P. G. Nops, F. Partridge, E. Saunders, W. J. Smith, F Spurdie, J. Thomas aild If. Thomson; hon. secretary and treasurer, P. E. Chapman; assistant secretary, W. H. Stephens; committee, Messrs. I. Burkhardt, F, Brown, Coutts, Fairweather, Langlands, Lea-land, and Nielsen; delegates to T.R.U., P. E. Chapman and C. Lealand; auditor, S. Nielsen. Annual subscriptions were adopted as under: Active members, first juniors, 5/-; second and third juniors, 2/6; hon. members, 10/6. Saturday, March 25, was appointed opening day for the 1922 season. It was decided to re-imburse Mr. W. H. Stephfens for new* jerseys supplied by him last season in place of others torn from backs of players. Also, that members whose subscriptions are unpaid by the second match of the season shall not be eligible for selection to a team representing the club. The arrangement of details of agreement between the Tariki and Inglewood Clubs was left to the management committees of the clubs. As honorarium for services rendered during the past year the sum of £5 5s was voted to the secretary, M. P. E. Chapman, but Mr. Chapman, while gratefully acknowledging the compliment, said he could not accept the gift, and begged to Ibe allowed to re-donate it to the funds of the club.
A very hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Eagar for the use of the room was passed with acclamation, as also was a similar vote to the chairman.
