TUTUTAWA.

' THE ANNUAL SPORTS. / The Tututawa Sports Club held its annual sports meeting at Tututawa yesterday, and although the weather was showery a good number of residents gathered in Messrs. Arkwright and Johnston’s (school) paddock, and a thoroughly enjoyable day was spent. Comprehensive arrangements had been made by the energetic committee preparing the grounds, and the Stratford Marble Bar Company had a large marquee erected in which refreshments were served and sweets and tobacco, etc., were on sale. The officers responsible for the gathering were: Messrs. J. B. Hine (president), W. H. Perry, J. Jacobson, Arkwright, Johnston, E. Walter, H. Worthington, J. Godkin, H. E. Abraham and W. A. Hewitt (vicepresident), L. Walker (chairman), J. Johnston (hon. treasurer), C. H. Short (hon. secretary), W. Foley (handicapper), Cutfield (starter), A. Holley (clerk of course), Walker, Walter and Hayes (judges). Mr. R. Masters, M.P., was present, and at the conclusion of the competitive events presented the prizes, which included many handsome trophies and medals. Following are tfre results of the competitive events:

100 Yards Flat Race (open).—E. Jacobson 1, C. Coulton 2.

Coulton 1, E. Jacobson 2. Ladies’ Potato Race.—Miss J. Walters 1, Miss E. Myers 2. One Mile.—Chapman 1, J. Walters 2. Stepping the Chain.—W. Norris 1, A. Halley and Miss E. Walker, dead heat, 2.
