The defence asked for an examination of its client's sanity. Counsel for the defence declared: “Our client is not in a fit mental condition to give us the aid we need. He cannot help us, and it is the court’s duty to adjourn the case to permit a preliminary examination by a doctor to verify our observations and impressions.” The case was adjourned until next Tues-day.—Aus.-N.Z.
