MUD ON TAUMATAMAIRE. (By Wire. —Special to News). Te Kuiti, Last Night. The Taranaki Chamber of Commerce delegation had luck in getting over the Taumatamaire on Friday, for rain set in on Saturday and Sunday and motorists had unpleasant experiences, the road between Black’s and Sole’s becoming a quagmire. A party of school teachers going to Awakino were held up in the mud until assisted out by motorists from Auckland, the pinion of the Aucklanders’ motor being broken in the effqrt. The occupants of two motors remained all Sunday night in their cars. The member for Waitomo (Mr. W. T. Jennings) drove over in a gig. The motorists in trouble took snapshots of the scene for future reference.
