STIMULATIVE PRIZES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Paris, March 11. For the purpose of encouraging earlier marriages, M. Cognacq, the proprietor of a big departmental store, has given the French Academy securities yielding an income of a million francs, and has instructed the Academy to award annually 100 prizes of 10,000 francs to parents with a minimum of five children. M. Cognacq and his wife presented the Academy three years ago with securities yielding 2,250,000 francs for 90 annual prizes to parents with a minimum of nine children. The capital value of the Cognacq gifts total 61,000,000 francs.
