GHANDI’S ARREST.

MUTINIES OF TROOPS. NEW YORK REPORT. “DEPLORABLE MUDDLE.” By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—-Copyright. New York, March 11. Mr. Gbose asserts that he has received cables stating that the Sihk and Punjabi troops at Ambala mutinied, following the arrest of Ghandi. Hartals have begun in all the principal Indian cities. London, March 11. The Times, commenting editorially on Gandhi's arrest and the events leading up to the deplorable muddle and publication of the telegram to Mr. Montague before the arrest, says:— “It will lead the Indian masses to conclude that the professed solicitude for Moslem feelings is merely a subterfuge for the decision to take action against Ghandi. Such a conclusion, no matter how false, is bound to weaken the authority of the Indian Government, but the true cause of weakness ie nearer home. The British Government has shown itself halting, uncertain and incoherent.”
