NAVAL ECONOMY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Sydney, March 11. With a view to reducing naval expenditure the Commonwealth Govern•ment has given instructions that timeexpired ratings be not signed on for further service. The scheme was adopted against the advice of the naval officers, who fear it will affect the efficiency of the service. Admiral Dumaresq’s term of three years expires in April, when he will rejoin the Royal Navy, and Commodore Addison will succeed him. QUEENSLAND WHEAT CROP. Brisbane, March 11. The latest statistics issued by the Wheat Board show that the total yield may exceed three million bushels. This represents the second largest output of grain yet harvested in Queensland. THE MAHENO DISPUTE. Sydney, March 11. I In the event of no early settlement of | the Maheno dispute the LTnion Co. will ’•arrange that passengers and cargo be to the Manuka next week.
