Gandhi, the extremist leader, has been arrested at Ahmedabad on a charge of sedition.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Received March 12, 5.5 p.m. Washington, March 11. Those representing Gandhi in America state that if Gandhi is arrested it will be the signal in India for an outbreak staggering in its magnitude. It is declared that Gandhi is the only person able to hold the extremists in check, and his arrest would remove the restraint on vio-lence.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
