Up to the eleventh round the battle was fairly even, with Ridley always a bit in hand. From then ta the American held the advantage. Jamito tried hard for a knockout, but his opponent was too clever. Melbourne, March 11. Jerry Sullivan beat Walter Ross (England) Jn’a seventeen-rounds match.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Brisbane, March 11. George Mendies (7.1%) beat. Reg. Pollard (7.12) in three rounds. A PROFESSIONAL MATCH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Vyestport, Last Night. A professional boxing bout, Curran v. Carr, was staged at Millerton last night. It went the full distance of fifteen rounds, and ended In a draw. Competent critics agree that It was one of the best fights that has yet taken place on the coast.
