Money for the asking, or rather laying out, is made daily the world over on the Turf. The Derby winner of this year was immediately worth £60,000 after it had won, and even though it died its owner recovered its worth through insurance agencies. Large sums have yearly been made out.of sudden flashes across the brain of an inventive mind. Some of the simplest and most trivial inventions on record have placed their originators beyond need for further work. A rubber tip at the top of lead pencils has yielded the owner of the patent £20,000. The American who begat the idea of putting “Blakeys” on children’s shoes can now claim to being a half a millionaire.
