A GIRL INCENDIARY. By Telegraph—Press Association Christchurch, March 9. In the Supreme Court, Edna Alma Hunt, aged 18, a domestic servant, was sentenced by Mr. Justice Adams to three months imprisonment for arson and on two charges of house breaking and.theft at Temuka, his Honor recommended that prisoner be committed to an industrial school and immediately examined in order to ascertain the extent of her mental weakness. COMPENSATION CASE. Christchurch, March 9. Tn the Supreme Court, Laura Glass, widow of John Vallance Glass, laborer, who was killed by an explosion, at Lake Coleridge in September, claimed from the Government £2OOO and was awarded £l5OO. FIRE AT TIMARU. Timaru, March 9. Early this morning the fire brigade was called to Waiiti Road, where Holmwood House, owned by E. R. Guinness and occupied by Mrs. Lord as a, board-ing-house, was" found in flames. The brigade worked 2.J hours before the flames were extinguished, but not before extensive damage had been done. The fire apparntly started in the kitchen. AH the. inmates escaped safely. The building contained twelve rooms. It was an old wooden structure. WATERSIDERS’ DISPUTE. Auckland, March 9. Tn the waterside dispute which is before th? Conciliation Council, agreement was reached on a number of clauses in regard to conditions of work. The balance in this connection will be sent to the Arbitration Court.
