TRAGEDY IN A FLAT.
YOUNG WOMAN MURDERED. I AN AVIATOR CHARGED By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received March 9, 7.30 p.m. London, March 8. The young man arrested in connection with the Gates’ tragedy is Ronald True, an aviator. 'He was remanded on a charge oi murdering Gertrude Gates and stealing her jewellery, valued at two hundred sterling. True, who is married, acted as an instructor in England and America. Detectives gave evidence that they found the jewellery in True’s overcoat. True stated he could explain. He left Gates with another man, violently quarrelling and fighting, on the night of the murder.—United Service.
A tragedy was reported in a fashionable flat at Fulham. The body of a young woman, Gertrude Gates, known as Olive Young, was discovered in the bathroom. She was gagged, her throat cut, and head battered. A man, who was a frequent visitor, left hurriedly in the morning, telling the maid not to disturb Gates, who was sleeping.
