LAWN TENNIS.
OPUNAKE v. OKATO. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The above match,, took place at Opunake last Saturday, and resulted in a win for the home team by 80 games to 63. As this was the first time the teams had met, both sides were "all out” to win, with the result that some keenly contested games were witnessed. The visiting players were entertained at afternoon tea, Mr. A. E. Wiggins extending a welcome on behalf of the Opunake Club. The Rev. H. A. Coleman, on behalf of the visitors, returned thanks for the hospitality shown and the sporting manner in which the match had been played. Following are the scores, Opunake being mentioned first in each instance : Doubles.—C. O. Edmonds and F. Edmonds lost to J. L. Power and S. Hall, Phillips Brothers beat E. B. Corbett and R. C. Larsen, B—2; R. E. Baeyertz and M.- W. Beattie lost to H. Coleman and E. Putt, 3—9 ; D. Trotter and E. Phillips beat T. C. Street and W. Willis, 9—3. Singles.—F. Edmonds beat H. A. Coleman, 9—o ; C. O. Edmonds beat E. Putt, 9—4 ; N. Phillips beat S. Hall, 9—7; E. Phillips beat R. C. Larsen, 9—2; R E. Baeyertz lost to J. L. Power, I—fl ; M. Beattie lost to E. B. Corbett, 4—9; D. Trotter beat T. C. Street, 6—3. Totals.—Opunake 80, Okato 63.
