VACUUM PUMP FOR MILKING MACHINES. Messrs. Rollo and Millar, engineers, of New Plymouth, have on exhibition at Qie show, in the Taranaki Agencies’ tent, a very nicely finished vaftuum pump for milking machines, whicl? the makers claim effects a saving of 35 per cent, in power, a saving which, in these times, with the reduced price of butter-fat, is well worth making. This pump has been carefully tested against pumps of other makers, the test being made with a Watt meter for a period of three hours, the test showing that this pump took .713 h.p. per hour and other makers 1.1 h.p. per hour. These tests have been verified under working conditions on a farm milking 170 cows, resulting in a saving of 35 per cent, in the benzine consumption, which alone would soon pay the cost of installing the pump. The simplicity of this pump, and the absence of the ordinary valves that are liable to break and cause stoppages is at once apparent. The pump can be run efficiently at varying speeds, and when running at 75 revolutions per minute is capable of maintaining the required vacuum for a six-cow plant. At thd same number of revolutions a vacuum of 29 inches is obtained pumping out of a c’osed tank, thus showing the pump to be most efficient as well as economical. Farmers and others interested should make a point of seeing this exhibit. Sneezing, running at the nose, watery eyes, with headache, are caused by Catarrh or Influenza Germs lodging in the mucous membrane of the nose and throat. Immediately these symptoms are noticed inhale Nazol very freely—it penetrates the mucous membrane and destroys the power of the obnoxious germs.
