At the Supreme Court Annie Janet McEwin was awarded* £2lO damages in an action brought 'by her against Beatrice Frances Rebekah Gilkes, proprietress of a private nursing home, for negligent and unskilful nursing. Plaintiff had undergone an operation in the home and while recovering from the effects of the anaesthetic had both heels burned by A hot water bottle.
