WEDDING.

BURTON—HICKS. A wedding of considerable interest was solemnised at St. Mary’s Church, Hawera., last Tuesday, when Miss Burton, daughter of Mr. Burton, Manawapou Road, was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Raymond Hicks, second son of Mr. R. Hicks, Hawera. The Rev Franklin was the officiating clergyman. The bride, who entered the church on her brother’s arm, looked charming in a frock of white crepe de chine, touched with pale pink, and white veil, worn mob cap style, encircled with orange blossoms. She was attended by Miss Hicks as bridesmaid, who was prett’ly gowned in a frock of pink crepe de chine with large white hat trimmed with pink. Mr. Noel Meuli capably carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony, and after the bridal party had been photographed, a very large reception was held at the Carlton tea-rooms, whe-e a sumptuous wedding breakfast had been very tastefully laid out. The customary leasts were proposed and duly honored. The happy couple left, amidst showers of confetti and rice, by the afternoon train for Wanganui, where the honeymoon is to be spent, tfith the good wishes of all for their future happiness. The bride travelled In a smart grey tailor-made costume, with white hat. They were the recipients of many useful presents,, cheques, and telegrams of congratulation.
