STORAGE OF OIL.
s «& r WAREHOUSE IN NEW PLYMOUTH. PERMISSION GRANTED. -St An application in respect to a Warehouse site for the storage of petrol and kerosene case r : l and lubricating oil was before the New Plymouth Borough Council at last night’s meeting. The Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary, Ltd., wrote notifying that they had obtained an option for a site on the corner of New Street and Buller Street, New Plymouth; also an option for a site in Roy Terrace backing op to the railway line. They desired to know whether in the event of their building on one or other of the sections the council would grant the necessary license. The Roy Terrace section was only suitable providing the company could obtain a railway siding, whereas in regard to the Buller Street section the goods would have to be carted from the New Plymouth railway yards. Inspector Day reported that iz» his opinion the Buller Street site was the better of the two from the council’s point of view. On the motion of the Mayor (Mr. F. E. Wilson) and Cr. J. Kibby, it was decided to reply that the council will raise no objection to either site providing the plans for the building are approved by the Government, and though the building is not within the brick area, that the store be erected in either brick or concrete. The Mayor said he understood the Government would insist on the building being of concrete.
