FIRES.
OH AWE ACCOMMODATION HOUSE DESTROYED. On Saturday morning, shortly after nine o’clock, a fire broke out in the accommodation house at Ohawe beach (near Hawera). When discovered the fire had obtained a firm hold, and, though neighbors assisted the inmates, they were unable to stem the fire, and the building was completely destroyed in half an hour. The occupiers, with the aid of neighbors, managed to save their personal effects, the bulk of which were got out of the building. Insurances were not available on going to press. It is understood the building belongs to Mrs. Butler, of Hawera.— Star.
