EXPORT OF MEAT.

BENEFITS FROM THE POOL. REDUCTION OF CHARGES. GRE TER RESULTS EXPECTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Marton, Last Night. The Marton show, with record entries and a large attendance, was opened today by Mr. Massey, who was accorded a hearty welcome. The Premier congratulated agriculturalists and pastoralists of the Dominion on the improved outlook for primary There was still room for improvement and he urged a better system of marketing and that the producers should export only the very best. Since the formation of the meat pool a good deal had /been done in securing fairer prices for the producer. The board of control guiding the destinies of the meat pool was a first-class combination, prepared to give their time and experience for the benefit of the Dominion. Since the pool was formed freezing and freight charges and storage charges had been reduced and the port of London authorities had assured the Government that every facility would be given in discharging New Zealand ships. The London meat trade had .been stirred' up to the benefit of New Zealand prices and already a huge sum in advance of the slump prices had been received. When the board gets under way he expects greater results, but 'he stressed that the producers were not out to make a “corner.”
