TARANAKI A. & P SHOW.

The popularity of the New Plymouth Show is reflected in the record entries which have been received from all ports of the North Island for the forthcoming fixture on March 8 and 9, and the officials of the Taranaki A. and P Society have every reason to be well satisfied with the indications for a most successful show. All sections have exceeded expectations, the dairy cattle section being stronger in entries than ever. The kerseys predominate in numbers, as usual, which is only to be expected in Taranaki, but the Friesians, Shorthorns, and Ayrshires are very noticeably increasing in numbers, particularly so the last named breed, for almost every Ayrshire breeder in the district has come to light. The horse section has filled up as well as can be expected, it being generally recognised that -show horses are becoming less each year. Nevertheless the entries in the jumping events are very good, and every horse entered is a top-notcher, so that some exciting competitions should ensue. The sheep and pig classes have drawn excellent entris. In short, the whole of the entries are strong in quantity and quality, and the success of the forthcoming show is assured. The public will be afforded a rare opportunity of examining some of the finest stock ever seen in the Dominion.
