CITY EQUITABLE INSURANCE CO. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. London, Feb. 25. The Official Receiver authorises an Interim announcement stating that the immediate causes of the City Equitable Company's difficulties were highly speculative financial dealings undertaken largely by the direction of the chairman (Mr. Bevan). Many Investments were wholly unsuitable to an insurance company. The business balance-sheet, issued in February, 1920, did not disclose the company's true position.
