CITY EQUITABLE INSURANCE CO. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. London, Feb. 25. The Official Receiver authorises an Interim announcement stating that the immediate causes of the City Equitable Company's difficulties were highly speculative financial dealings undertaken largely by the direction of the chairman (Mr. Bevan). Many Investments were wholly unsuitable to an insurance company. The business balance-sheet, issued in February, 1920, did not disclose the company's true position. LONDON MEAT MARKET London, Feb. 24. Lambs.—South American light, 9%d, heavy 9d. Frozen beef.—New Zealand and Australian hinds all 4d. Chilled beef.—Argentine fores 3%d, hinds 5 l--8d; Uruguay fores 3%d, hinds 4%d; others unchanged. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. Received Feb. 27, 10.55 p.m. Sydney, Feb. 27. The wool sales were continued’ to-day. There was spirited competition In all classes, late rates being maintained. BUTTER AND CHEESE.
